There’s loads to do for a day or a weekend in the Liverpool City Region.
Leave your car in the Eureka! car park and hop on the ferry over to Liverpool City Centre and explore the iconic buildings known as the “Three Graces” at Pier Head (where you’ll also find the brilliant British Music Experience and The Beatles Story), and then head up into Liverpool One for some shopping or some food. There’s plenty of family-friendly attractions and events and festivals in the city all the time so there’s always something to do whatever the season, and whatever the weather!
If a ferry ‘cross the Mersey is not for you, then there’s plenty on the Wirral peninsula to keep you entertained. If the sun is shining, and the kids still have energy to burn, then the boardwalk down to New Brighton takes about 1 hour 15 minutes. It’s almost completely flat and ends up at the beach! If it’s not beach weather, there’s still plenty to do in New Brighton, including a fort and a lighthouse! If you’ve walked down, it’s easy to get the bus back to Eureka! once you’re fuelled up on ice cream.
For those who love a spot of culture, Wirral is home to some fantastic museums and galleries, and is full of outdoor attractions to visit while you’re here including the beautiful Ness Gardens and miles of family friendly parks, walks and cycleways.
There’s plenty to keep everyone happy for a weekend, to explore all the options have a look at the Visitor Guides to Liverpool and Wirral, and of course there’s always the beautiful city of Chester to explore just up the road too!
You’ll find toilets, including all-access facilities, in The Hub, Nature, and The Burrow.
You can access our Changing Places facility from the concourse in the ferry terminal building.
Changing facilities are available in our all-access toilets in The Burrow and on the first floor.
Visit our waterfront Discovery Café for a range of snacks and meals, for visitors and members of the public. Discovery Café opening times: Mondays: Closed Tuesday - Friday: 10am - 4pm Saturday & Sunday: 10am - 5pm
Need a top-up? You can grab drinks and snacks from the café or vending machines.
There’s plenty of room for picnics with a view on the banks of the river Mersey - and some indoor spots for when the weather isn't great!
A quiet space for visitors with special needs who need some time-out or prayer facilities. Just ask a member of staff for directions!
Ask us if you need support, including wheelchairs, hearing loops, ear defenders, or spare clothes.
Assistance dogs welcome, and just ask if they’d like a bowl of water.
Loads! We expect visitors will spend about 2 – 3 hours at Eureka! Science + Discovery. Everything is hands-on and interactive. You can explore the building and some of our exhibits on our gallery pages. Check out What’s On for additional activities and programmes too.
Everyone! Well, we would say that, wouldn’t we! Eureka! Science + Discovery has been created for children and young people aged up to 14, but we’re open to all ages and grandad will have as much fun as the kids. There’s a separate space just for our younger visitors in The Burrow zone in the terminal building, but your tickets get you access to all areas in both buildings. If you’re not visiting with young people, you may want to pop along to one of our Lates events (when we’ll have a bar… shhhh).
If you’ve bought a full price ticket (i.e. not using Tesco days out vouchers) then you already have an annual pass – how good is that? All you need to do to use it is to Activate it online. When you book, you’ll receive an email explaining how to do this. Activating your annual pass means you can come back again as many times as you like for free for the next 12 months – but you still need to book online in advance. Annual passes are not transferable, so they can only be used by the people who visited initially. If you visited Eureka! Science + Discovery using Tesco days out vouchers, you are not eligible for the annual pass.
Nope. If you know Eureka! The National Children’s Museum in Halifax, you’ll recognise the Eureka! approach to doing things throughout your visit to Eureka! Science + Discovery, but you won’t see the same exhibits. We’ve grown things up a bit for Eureka! Science + Discovery and have developed and designed a science centre for young people, rather than a children’s museum. You’ll have the same great time though!
No, sorry. The two attractions are separate venues, and your pass is not transferable between the two.
Nope. Tesco Clubcard points are for day passes only, so we recommend this option if you’re looking to try the attraction out before you commit to an annual pass, or perhaps if you’re visiting from far away and don’t think you’d make full-use of an annual pass. If you would like an annual pass, you will need to purchase a standard ticket.
