Home Educator Day: Animal Olympics

20th November 2026

Get ready to move, explore and discover the amazing ways animals get around!

Join us for a special Home Educator Day all about animal movement and the incredible adaptations that help animals climb, crawl, burrow, swim, jump and fly. With live animals, practical challenges and creative activities, it’s a fun day of learning through doing – perfect for curious home educator families.

Animal Teach are taking over the theatre for an amazing live animal experience!
Meet an incredible selection of lizards, snakes and invertebrates and discover how their bodies and adaptations help them move through different environments.

Find out how animals climb, crawl and burrow, and learn about the fascinating ways their bodies are adapted for movement. There’ll even be opportunities to meet some of the animals up close!

Have a Go at the Animal Movement Olympics!

Head to Make Create and put your own movement skills to the test!

Try animal-inspired challenges using hoops, balance boards and other equipment. Can you move like different animals, keep your balance like a slow-moving creature or complete an animal-themed challenge?

Alongside the movement challenges, get creative and investigate how animals move through a range of hands-on activities:

– Make & test a jumping frog! Can you design a frog that jumps further?
– Design a flying animal! Experiment with different wing shapes and see what happens!
– Create a slithering snake! Investigate how snakes move without legs.
– Design an animal athlete! Choose adaptations to help your animal run, jump, swim, climb or fly.
– Move through water!
Explore how different body shapes can help animals swim.
– How many legs?
Investigate how animals with different numbers of legs move.
– Slow and steady challenge!
Can you complete the challenge without rushing?
